The World-Aces Server:
World-Aces is a dedicated server that runs a dinamic campaing. Actualy it's running in a server with 8Mbps bandwidth connection.
It uses the following programs:
IL2 Dedicated Server 4.08m;
IL2SC - IL2 Server Controller: It's role is to start the missions and save the statistics;
DCG - Dinamic Campaing Generator: It's role is to generate the missions and verify all events that can influence in the campaing;
GPW - Great Patriotic War: a campaing created by JastaV to DCG.
HL - HyperLobby, where you can find the server looking for "WORLD-ACES".
The campains follow an historic sequence and the actual campaing shows the historical events, from the Kalach contend to the Paulus' army surrender.
From the author's text:
"It focuses on the Battle of Stalingrad, portraying, with great historical accuracy, the different phases of this decisive battle. Though a historical campaign, it's still a dynamic campaign in which players, random factors, and luck can change the historical outcome.
The players' actions will determinate the conditions of the following missions and the position of the front. It moves in response to the previous mission's results. That's why it's so important to have tactical coordination in the missions in order to win the actual map and the campaing.
The number of planes is limited by type. So, if the number of an available plane reach zero (0), this plane will be replaced by an older model of the same type.
It's a complex campaing and everything you do in a mission is counted. For exemple, the destruction of static objects influence in the next missions. As Paul, the creator of DCG, explains:
"(...), DCG looks for at least one "radio truck" at each airfield and whether it is destroyed or active. If destroyed, the field is penalized by having fewer flights available for the next mission(s).
"The duration of the effects are so long as the object remains unrepaired/replaced. Objects remain unrepaired/replaced until a friendly truck column, frieghter ship, train, or transport plane begins it's "turn" (mission) at the specified location.
"The specific static objects and their effects are:
"Oil car (wagon8), fuel trucks: reduce the chances of an armoured unit advancing. The percent chance is dependent on the following formula: Number of friendly oil cars/trucks currently active divided by the total number of friendly oil cars/trucks plus an "off-map" bonus which is dependent on the scenario (usually from 10% to 30%). This percentage is also applied to all squadrons getting a one flight reduction for that mission.
"Radio trucks: if all at an airfield destroyed, the airfield suffers a 50% penalty in at start aircraft being available.
"Other trucks: reduce reinforcements by reducing the chances of any unit spawning. The percent chance is dependent on the following formula: Number of friendly trucks currently active divided by the total number of friendly trucks plus an "off-map" bonus which is dependent on the scenario (usually from 10% to 30%).
"As for moving units, the effects of their destruction are less abstract. As mentioned above, some of these units rebuild destroyed static objects (including AAA and other defenses). Others can transport units, for example, frieghters, landing craft, and tramps can carry armour and car columns. The big ME323 can also carry armour and car columns.
"Vehicle columns: Can rebuild destroyed static units. Also deposit 10 troop points at any location passed through. (A location can not be captured until all these points are destroyed). A vehicle column in an enemy held area will destroy up to 10 of these troop points/mission.
"Armour columns: are the critical unit for capturing enemy locations. As mentioned above, a location can only be captured once it's troops are reduced to zero AND no enemy armour is present. Armour will destroy up to 20 troop points/mission depending on the armour type. In addition, armor can destroy other armour and other vehicles. Armour can also force the retreat of enemy armour and vehicles if there is a 5 to 1 advantage for one side or the other in total points (armour points + vehicles points + troop points). The point values are available in the armor.dcg file - there are two numbers depending on whether the armor is considered attacking or defending. (Vehicle columns are all worth 10, single vehicles are worth 4).
"Trains, transport ships: as mentioned above, they rebuild destroyed static units. They also will transport armour and car columns. These also drop 10 troops off at any "land" location they pass through.
